Josh Gold's 1st kyu test conducted by Matsuoka Sensei in 1994.
The test requirements were a bit different at Tenshin Dojo in the 1990s, but the core of the test remains the same. The intensity and demands of today's tests have not diminished since those days.
There were many shomenuchi Ikkyo variations in the test requirements. They end at 3:45 if you want to skip to the next phase of the test.
While navigating the test requirements competently, key mistakes include choosing overly complex techniques in some portions of the test, as well as yielding too much space to the attackers after a successful first cut in randori. Twenty two years later, Matsuoka Sensei still cautions students against this as can be seen in the "Randori Positioning Tactics: Instructor Training" video.
Note that certain parts of the test were edited out due to poor video quality.
The uke for this test was Steve Palmer.
