Matsuoka Sensei leads a jiyuwaza (free-form training) session with Josh Gold. With the exception of a few breaks, Sensei and Josh have met for weekly training sessions over the last 5 years in which Josh takes ukemi for 30 minutes continuously. This video is a 7 minute excerpt from one of those sessions.
You'll see Matsuoka Sensei adjust the speed and type of throws to push Josh but maintain a pace that can be sustained for half an hour. Sensei even takes time in pin positions to stretch and relax Josh's wrist, shoulder, and back muscles.
These sessions provide Sensei with a venue to experiment with new movements and are great learning and physical conditioning opportunities for Josh.
